FAQ

Marsel’s technical and commercial advisors are always there to help you and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Below is a list of the frequently asked questions.

If windows with good insulation parameters have been chosen and they have been installed correctly, there is no need to improve their tightness. It is possible to adjust the wing pressure during summer/winter according to the guidelines described in the Manual of Use and Maintenance of Woodworking.

Maintenance and adjustment activities are described in Marsel’s Manual of Use and Maintenance of Woodworking, however, it is recommended to entrust adjustment activities to people with experience.

Each customer has different expectations of the windows.

We recommend paying attention to the heat transfer coefficient, functionality of the windows depending on their size and location in the building, colour and many other elements related to the appearance of the window, as well as service and health safety of users and the building.

Today, the world’s architecture is dominated by the tendency to obtain and use as much renewable energy as possible. The architects try to take maximum advantage of the building’s location in relation to the points of compass, and this is related to the solar energy gain through glass partitions. The latest solutions in the field of glass allow for an optimal combination of thermal insulation with solar energy transmittance. Thus, it is necessary to choose the right glazing in relation to the specific point of compass, and, therefore, we will gain the best possible energy balance of the building.

Northern facades

The sun practically does not reach the rooms with windows facing north. The quality of natural light is almost constant there. Such rooms are also perfect for reading rooms and computer studios. Glazing with increased thermal insulation allows to widen the windows, while reducing heat loss in winter (CLIMAPLUS, CLIMATOP range).

Southern facades

The windows facing south give the maximum amount of sunshine to the interior in winter, when the sun is low. This orientation of the facade allows for better insulation of rooms in winter. In summer, on the other hand, when the angle of sunlight is greater, windows facing south can easily be protected from the excess sun with canopies or balconies. Thanks to the southern facades you can gain the most thermal energy from the sun with the use of modern CLIMATOP ECLAZ glass)

Eastern and western facades

Windows facing east or west receive maximum solar energy in summer (eastern facade in the morning and western facade in the afternoon). Since the sun is low above the horizon in the morning and in the evening, window and balcony openings must be equipped with glazing with adequate sun protection to avoid the risk of overheating and glare. This applies especially to western facades, because during the time of maximum sunshine (i.e. in the afternoon), the outside temperature can be relatively high and just opening the windows does not lower the temperature inside. The SKN176 type glass is ideal for eastern and western facades.

The best solution is to have a specialist measure a window as they are equipped with appropriate tools to do it and avoid any problems with its installation..

If we want to measure the window on our own, it is necessary to take into account the appropriate installation clearances around the circumference of the window (as a rule, 10-20 mm installation clearances are assumed, depending on the size of the window and the state of construction).

When measuring windows to be replaced it is necessary to take an individual approach depending on the situation at the construction site. During the measurement, the space under the window for the sill strip / system extensions should also be taken into account.

Access to window openings should be free.

All elements that can be damaged should be moved away from the windows.

If there has been such an arrangement, the holes should be aligned / forged.

Be prepared for noise and dust during assembly.

The correct term of warm installation refers to moving forward the window and install it in the building’s thermal insulation layer.

On the window market, the definition of a warm installation also includes a tight three-layer installation in the face of the outer edge of the wall using internal steam-tight tapes, polyurethane foam and external steam-permeable tapes and our offer also reffers to this type of installation as a warm installation..

Openings should be aligned around the perimeter to allow for the application of steam-tight and steam-permeable tapes to ensure a tight installation.

When choosing a window, it is necessary to pay attention to the Uw coefficient, which informs us how much heat escapes through the windows. It is expressed in
W/m2K units. The lower it is, the smaller the losses.
The heat transfer coefficient for a passive window must not be higher than 0.8 W/m2K.

Energy-efficient windows are an investment for years, thanks to which we will reduce heat loss and save a lot on heating the building.

The condensation of water on the surface of the glass from the room side is caused by the presence of warm, humid air enclosed in the building. This indicates a problem in the construction of the building itself and the need for better air ventilation – liquefied water on the surface of the glass is usually a symptom of poor ventilation of the room. The presence of liquefied water on the external surface of the glass confirms its high tightness and insulation. These symptoms are not glass defects.

Warm frame on the edge of the glass frame serves as thermal insulation and prevents heat from escaping outside during the winter season and from getting into the rooms during the summer. Windows equipped with warm frames retain permanently their insulating properties, thus contributing to a significant reduction in energy consumption costs.

Poor ventilation contributes not only to the formation of fungus, mould and destruction of the building structure, but also affects our well-being. Headaches and dizziness, fatigue, irritation of the skin, nasal and throat mucous membranes and allergies can be caused by poor air circulation.

The most effective way to provide air for ventilation is to use special ventilators. These are small, usually simple devices designed for installation in windows or walls of a building. Their main advantage is the fact that their efficiency is known (as stated by the manufacturer), i.e. the amount of air they can bring to the room per hour. This way, it is easy to determine whether they will meet the requirements for a particular room. It is also important that the size of the air flow through the ventilator can usually be adjusted and that they cannot be closed.

In case of necessity of noise protection, it is possible to use special sound-absorbing glasses adapted to the sound intensity at different dB level.

There are several possibilities.

The best solution is a blind rollers or facade shutters which serve as a sun protection and have aesthetic properties.

There are many possible solutions, such as the use of fittings, glazing, reed switches and other elements that serve as a break-in-proof protection.

Contrary to the opinions spread on the window market, basic roller blinds do not have break-in-proof properties.
The blinds only serve as protection against the sun.

It is recommended to remove the protective films right after the installation or not later than 1 month after the woodwork has been exposed to weather conditions.
